INSTYLE wins United Nations’ World Environment Day Award.

INSTYLE has won a United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day 2010 Business Award for the second time, this year for Environmental Best Practice Program. INSTYLE was selected for its excellence in overall environmental management at a whole-of-business level and its commitment to driving real environmental change within its industry and supply chain for EthEco(R) wool.

The Award Judges said "Instyle is a clear industry leader that has dedicated significant resources to investigating and ensuring that the production of the textiles it uses is sustainable. The company has put in place an all-embracing business model that is built around delivering a sustainable product. Instyle has effectively engaged with and built the capacity of its supply chain up and down stream, from farm to manufacturing to the customer. Instyle's policies, practices and reporting set a high benchmark for other small and medium enterprises."

The winners of the 2010 World Environment Day Awards were announced on Friday 4 June at the Awards Presentation Dinner. The gala event, hosted by Rob Gell, President of Greening Australia was held at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne on the eve of World Environment Day. 

The 5th of June is World Environment Day. Each year on this designated day, the UNAA seeks to focus world attention on the environment, and in particular, on positive programs that work towards protecting or restoring the world's natural heritage.

The award was presented by David White, Environmental Program Advisor, Virgin Blue Airlines Group at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

INSTYLE wins another Sustainability Award

'Accepting the NSW Government Green Globe Business Sustainability Award 2009'

INSTYLE is proud to again win a Business Sustainability Award at the NSW Government Green Globe Awards 2009. “Now reducing energy use and waste is the norm so it is a real achievement to win again this year” said Michael Fitzsimons, managing director of INSTYLE. The competition for this year’s Green Globe Awards was extremely strong with 17 companies nominated in the Business Sustainability Award category. Deputy Premier and Minister for Climate Change and Environment, Carmel Tebbutt said “The calibre of nominations … reflects just how far we have come in the 10 years since they began.” This award recognises INSTYLE’s new EthEco® wool sourcing program and the positive difference this has on animal welfare, human health and environmental care.

“The EthEco® wool comes from sheep that are naturally resistant to flystrike and therefore do not need to be mulesed. These sheep are raised on holistically managed farms which focus on improving soil health and reducing or eliminating the use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers.” said Fitzsimons.

Late last year INSTYLE developed a traceability program called FARM TO FABRIC™ where customers can visit online a typical EthEco® wool farm and see how these farms are managed with minimal environmental impact.

EthEco® wool was also recognised as a FINALIST for Best Specific Environmental Initiative in the United Nations’ World Environment Day Awards 2009.

INSTYLE a finalist for the 2009 United Nations World Environment Day Awards.

INSTYLE CONTRACT TEXTILES is proud to be selected again as a finalist for the United Nations’ World Environment Day Awards 2009 - this time for Best Specific Environmental Initiative for its new EthEco® wool sourcing program. For the past 18 months INSTYLE has been working with its supply chain and in particular wool growers to further improve its wool sourcing specification from eco wool (low pesticide wool) to EthEco® wool. EthEco® wool is the optimum in ethical and environmental wool sourcing. It is sourced from non-mulesed sheep that are well cared for on holistically-managed farms - improving animal welfare, human health and care for the environment.

The World Environment Day Awards acknowledge local actions to address global environmental issues. This year’s theme, ‘Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change’ reflects the vital need for nations to work together in combating climate change.

Winners of the 2009 UN Awards will be announced on World Environment Day (5 June) in Melbourne.

INSTYLE CONTRACT TEXTILES is honoured to have won the “Business Sustainability Award for Environmental Best Practice Program in the 2008 United Nations Association of Australia, World Environment Day Awards”. 

The awards were hosted by Rob Gell, Environmentalist and President of Greening Australia, and are held as part of the United Nations' World Environment Day (5 June). This year's theme 'Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy' focused particular attention on global warming and on the responsibility of countries, companies and communities to reduce their carbon footprint.

INSTYLE’S “Integrated Company Approach to Sustainability” was recognised by the UNAA for its overall, “whole of business" environmental approach and efforts to integrate innovative ideas and standards within its industry.
